Hong Kong police have arrested a 34-year-old woman on suspicion of animal cruelty after two cats reportedly fell from a height at a public estate, with one confirmed dead at the scene.
The woman, a resident of the city, was detained for questioning on Friday.
According to police, they received a call from a security guard at Heng Kin House of Tin Heng Estate in Tin Shui Wai at 2:50 a.m., reporting that two cats had apparently fallen from a height.
“Upon arriving at the scene, officers found one cat dead and another still alive. Following an initial investigation, the case has been classified as cruelty to animals,” said the police.
The Yuen Long district investigation team is handling the case, and no additional arrests have been made as of yet.
Authorities confirmed that the cat that died was a two-year-old female Siamese, while the surviving cat, which sustained injuries, was a two-year-old ragdoll.
