A woman who lost her home in the devastating Palisades Fire was joyfully reunited with her beloved cat, who had been missing for nearly two months after the fire destroyed her neighborhood.
Katherine Kiefer had been heartbroken over the disappearance of her 5-year-old Maine Coon cat, Aggie, who vanished in the chaos of the January 7th firestorm.
“I was distraught about Aggie, fearing the worst,” Kiefer told KTLA’s Sandra Mitchell. “I just thought she was gone.”
But after nearly 60 days alone in the burned-out remnants of the Palisades, volunteers found Aggie in poor condition, starving, frightened, but still alive. She was rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital, where Kiefer was finally able to reunite with her.
In photos shared by KTLA, Kiefer is seen holding Aggie at the veterinary office, clearly emotional.
“It was Aggie, skin and bones,” Kiefer explained. “I just don’t know how anyone could survive.”
To help with the veterinary bills for Aggie’s recovery, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up.
