Pet owners in Greenville may soon have a new luxury boarding option for their dogs and cats. On January 28, the Greenville City Council unanimously approved a zoning change that will allow Bay’s Almost Home Pet Resort to build a state-of-the-art, soundproofed multi-room facility at 5801 Shelby Ave. The new space will provide a comfortable, home-like environment for pets while their owners are temporarily unavailable.
Owner Bailey Motes presented her vision to the city council, emphasizing the facility’s focus on creating a “bedroom-style” environment rather than a traditional kennel. “My goal is to offer a space where pets can receive high-end care and safety,” Motes explained.
The facility will be situated in an area surrounded by agricultural property, with Motes prioritizing minimal disruption to both the local community and the pets staying there. “We’re going to individualize the bedrooms and take in smaller groups of dogs at a time to ensure a safer and quieter environment,” she added. “My builder and architect are focused on making the building soundproof to prevent noise from disturbing both our neighbors and the pets.”
Greenville’s Director of Community Development, Steve Methven, also expressed support for the project. “Many people have contacted me expressing excitement about this idea, so I do believe there is a need for such a facility,” he shared.
With its unique approach to pet care, Bay’s Almost Home Pet Resort aims to meet the growing demand for high-quality boarding services in the area.
