A new cattery is set to open in Monkton, Ayrshire, offering pet owners the ability to check in on their cats via live web cams.
Local business owners Eric and Fiona Manson have submitted a planning application to establish The Cottage Cattery in their garden on Main Street. If approved, the facility will provide boarding for up to 20 cats within a 10-pen unit.
Their goal is to offer high-quality boarding accommodation for pet owners, including those traveling to and from Prestwick Airport. In a statement from Avant Architecture, the agents representing the proposal, they highlighted the cattery’s mission:
“The Cottage Cattery is a new cattery looking to open in Monkton, Ayrshire. We are seeking to provide accommodation for up to 20 cats in a 10-pen unit, allowing travelers and local pet owners access to convenient, flexible boarding within a high-quality environment.
This brand-new business will aim to provide high-end care at affordable prices while contributing to the local economy.”
Eric and Fiona Manson will co-own and manage the cattery, ensuring first-class boarding facilities for their clients. A key feature of their service will be live web cams, allowing pet owners to check in on their cats remotely.
Their statement further explains:
“We will be partners in the company and make all business-related decisions collaboratively. As small business owners, we believe this partnership is the fairest and most effective legal structure for taxation, management, and decision-making.
This will be a brand-new cattery building within the extensive gardens of our home in Monkton, designed to meet all legal requirements for pet boarding.
At The Cottage Cattery, our mission is to provide exceptional care for your cat when you are unable to. Our purpose-built, modern cattery accommodation will ensure a safe, nurturing, and fun environment.
We will offer flexible access to your cat’s accommodation, and for your peace of mind, individual web cams will be available so you can check in on your pet anytime.”
The planning application is currently pending consideration by South Ayrshire Council, with a decision expected in early March.
