A black cat’s hilarious take on the saying “the cat that got the cream” has left online viewers in stitches.
The cat, named Miso, was filmed licking a tub of dairy cream by their owner, who shared the amusing moment on TikTok under the username @suxxxanne on November 11, 2024. In the video, Miso can be seen working hard to hold onto the plastic tub and its lid after completely emptying it. The comical clip has since been watched over 141,000 times and liked by more than 20,000 viewers.
In the footage, Miso, a male cat, can be seen cleaning out a tub of single cream purchased from the British retailer Tesco. The video then cuts to a humorous scene of Miso using all his strength to keep hold of the plastic lid, which was being tugged away by his concerned owner. Viewers can also hear Miso huffing in frustration as his owner steps in to stop the feline’s cream indulgence.
The post was captioned: “The idiot becomes the idiom.”
While cats can occasionally enjoy small amounts of cream, it isn’t ideal for their diet. Cream is not toxic to cats, but many adult cats are lactose intolerant, meaning their bodies cannot properly process the lactose in dairy products. Eating cream may lead to digestive issues such as diarrhea or stomach discomfort, so it’s recommended that cat owners consult a vet before offering dairy treats to their pets.
Since being shared in November, the post has gathered over 100 amused comments from TikTok viewers, with many sharing stories of their own pets’ antics around food.
“Acting like the cat that got the cream,” one viewer wrote.
“It’s their emotional support single cream container,” another commenter joked.
“Dread to see [his] emotional state without it,” Miso’s owner responded.
“Is this a black cat thing? My cat does the same thing,” a viewer remarked.
“Literally, ‘the cat that got the cream’ and growled about the human intervention,” one commenter wrote.
Another shared: “Had to put a child lock on my fridge as I was sick and tired of wrestling blocks of cheese off my black cat.”
