It’s Grinch season, and no one is more excited than Ella the cat!
This rescue feline and avid movie fan has captured hearts online with her unwavering love for The Grinch. Ella’s owner, Emily Beck, regularly shares videos of her senior cat indulging in her favorite pastime—watching movies—on TikTok (@ellawatchestv_). The account has garnered nearly 800,000 followers and over 60 million likes, thanks in large part to Ella’s unique devotion to the 2018 animated version of The Grinch.
Ella first went viral in 2023 for her passion for TV, but her fame reached festive new heights after Beck posted a TikTok video on December 11 highlighting her cat’s obsession with the holiday film. The video, which has over four million views, features clips of Ella watching the movie with laser focus, accompanied by text explaining how this love affair with The Grinch began.
“Five years ago, I adopted a senior cat who turned out to be a huge fan of The Grinch,” Beck captioned the video. “I would put it on for her while I did chores to keep her entertained.”
Over time, Ella’s enthusiasm for the movie evolved into a shared activity with her owner. According to Beck, the cat began coaxing her to sit and watch the film together, solidifying The Grinch as a household staple.
The pair’s shared love for the movie has transformed their routine and even their home decor. “I was never a huge Grinch fan, but now I buy her anything Grinch-related,” Beck revealed. One notable purchase is a “jumbo-sized Grinch pillow,” which dwarfs Ella but has become her favorite spot for cozy naps.
Ella’s devotion to The Grinch isn’t limited to the holidays. Beck shared in another TikTok that the senior cat watches the film “year-round.” In one clip, Ella’s tail flicks in delight as she enjoys her beloved movie, proving her dedication to the green Christmas character transcends the season.
Beck first discovered Ella’s peculiar love for The Grinch when she casually turned on the animated movie after work. “She was ENTHRALLED 🤣,” Beck commented on TikTok.
Their daily bonding ritual includes watching something together in the morning and again before bedtime, Beck told Newsweek last year. “It has become our way to bond,” she explained.
“I think she’s hysterical,” Beck shared with the outlet. “I adopted her when she was 10, and I had no idea she would be so animated and silly. If this is what makes her happy, I’m happy to do it forever.”
Ella’s quirky obsession has not only brought joy to her life but also turned her into an internet sensation, proving that love for a favorite movie can warm hearts—even when it’s about a grumpy green Christmas icon.
