A business owner in Ramsey has shared how a local cat has helped attract visitors to the northern town. Thomas, the beloved town cat, has been officially granted ‘free’ status by the Ramsey Commissioners—an honor not given out since 2010.
Thomas was discovered a few years ago in shipping containers and quickly became a fixture at local businesses. Born on the North Promenade, the cat is believed to be six years old, which is roughly 40 in human years.
Suzanne, the owner of Suzanne Young Pilates, is one of Thomas’s guardians. She recalls that he appeared on her doorstep two years ago after a night out.
Throughout his time in town, Thomas has had a few mishaps, including dog bites and a puncture wound on his leg. Following these incidents, a crowdfunding campaign was launched to help cover his veterinary expenses.
