An exotic serval cat, brought to the APA Adoption Center in Olivette last week, has been humanely euthanized after sustaining severe injuries in a car accident.
The two servals were rescued from a vehicle that was rear-ended in St. Louis County on November 6. Both cats were taken to the APA center, where one of them was found to be critically injured.
According to a statement from the APA, the injured serval underwent surgery to address multiple injuries.
“Despite the veterinary team’s best efforts, the cat’s condition continued to deteriorate, leading to the difficult decision to humanely euthanize him,” the release said.
The second serval was successfully transferred to a facility accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, where she will receive the care and attention she needs for the rest of her life.
