Orlando, Fla. — A firefighter with the Orlando Fire Department sustained injuries while combating a house fire late Wednesday night amidst the severe conditions of Hurricane Milton.
Fire crews were dispatched to the residence located on the 5100 block of Jeannine Court shortly after 11:30 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found the roof of the home engulfed in flames. The team worked swiftly to extinguish the fire.
One firefighter was injured in the incident and was subsequently transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he is reported to be in stable condition. Tragically, two cats perished in the fire, though there were no additional injuries reported.
The Orlando Fire Department has determined that the fire was caused by downed power lines.
