A beloved cat named Luna, missing from Cardiff, has been found an astonishing 150 miles away in Stoke-on-Trent. Luna’s owner, Richard, who preferred not to disclose his surname, became concerned when the 14-year-old cat didn’t return home on June 27.
Living in Pontcanna with his wife and children, Richard described Luna as a “main coon ragdoll cross” who typically enjoyed the outdoors but returned home multiple times daily. Concern grew when Luna didn’t appear as usual.
“We searched our local area, including nearby church grounds where she often roams, but couldn’t find her,” Richard explained. “It was very distressing for the family because she had never gone missing before.”
Nearly a week later, Richard received an unexpected call on July 3 from Bramble and Bear veterinary practice in Staffordshire. Luna had been brought in by someone who found her, and luckily, Luna was microchipped. The vets were able to contact Richard via the details registered when Luna was reported missing.
“I was incredibly emotional upon hearing the news,” Richard shared. “We were also amazed she had traveled so far. We suspect someone may have taken her intentionally.”
On Thursday, Richard made the three-hour journey to Staffordshire to bring Luna back home. “She means the world to me and my family. We are overjoyed to have her back,” he said ahead of the reunion.
The family expressed immense gratitude for Luna’s safe return and the role of microchipping in reuniting them with their cherished pet.
