The South Okanagan Similkameen SPCA has issued a plea for donations to replenish their cat food supplies at their community pet food bank.
While the shelter itself is supported by a pet food company to ensure consistent nutrition for its residents, the SPCA’s food bank requires additional supplies. This resource is crucial for community members in need, ensuring that both pets and their owners receive necessary support.
“We’ve distributed over 2,500 kg of pet food so far in 2024, thanks to the generous donations from our supporters,” remarked Holly Williams, SPCA Animal Care Supervisor.
Donations of any brand of dry cat food are welcomed and can be dropped off at 2200 Dartmouth Dr, Penticton, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The SPCA encourages contributions directly to the food bank, emphasizing that physical items are most beneficial for this specific program.
For those unable to visit in person, the SPCA has an Amazon wishlist available for easy online donations. Pet food and supplies are accessible for pick up seven days a week, year-round. Special requests can be accommodated by contacting [email protected] or calling 250-493-0136.
This appeal underscores the importance of community support in maintaining vital resources for pets and their owners during challenging times.
