An injured black and white cat with singed whiskers has been found near the site of a house explosion in Transcona on Wednesday. The cat, estimated to be around two years old, is currently under the care of the Winnipeg Humane Society.
The cat was located on June 28, 2024, on Cranbrook Bay, approximately 400 meters from the explosion that destroyed a home on Camrose Bay. The feline was found by a neighbor with the assistance of another local resident.
The Winnipeg Humane Society reported that the cat was brought in on Thursday morning but has not yet been fully assessed, so the extent of her injuries is unknown.
A photo of the cat was posted on a website for lost and found animals, but no one has claimed her. It is unclear if her injuries are directly related to the explosion. Winnipeg Police have confirmed that the residents of the destroyed home, a father and daughter, were not present during the blast.
