The Moth, previously known as the “man of the house,” had always declared himself a staunch “dog man” with little affinity for cats. Despite his aversion to feline companionship, he tolerated the presence of chinchillas and hamsters in the household, finding them amusing additions to the family. Even Jack rabbit, a rescue from a wet market, managed to win over his affections and integrate into the household seamlessly.
However, when village cats began encroaching on the family’s territory and posing a threat to Jack rabbit, the Moth took action, chasing them away to protect their cherished pet. This all changed with the unexpected arrival of a tiny kitten, discarded like trash, which the Moth found himself instantly drawn to after a mere ten minutes in her presence.
Dubbed Jade, the kitten quickly wormed her way into the Moth’s heart, prompting him to fuss over her well-being, ensuring she received all necessary vaccinations and lavishing her with attention and playtime. Now, at the age of 14, Jade holds the Moth firmly under her paw, effortlessly commandeering his attention and affection.
Despite initial reservations about cats being “sneaky,” the Moth has undergone a remarkable transformation into a devoted cat whisperer. Cats seem inexplicably drawn to him, seeking out his company and affection wherever he goes, both at home and abroad. Even in foreign lands where language barriers exist, cats recognize the Moth as a kindred spirit, trailing after him and vying for his attention.
During a recent lunch outing, the Moth found himself accompanied by a stray tuxedo cat, reminiscent of the family’s own cat named Socks. Though nameless, this feline lunch companion left a lasting impression on the Moth, serving as a reminder of the universal allure of cats and their ability to forge connections across borders and cultures.
